PTI Sindh President Ali Zaidi Quits Politics, Condemns May 9 Violence

KARACHI:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Ali Zaidi announced on Saturday that he is quitting politics and condemning the May 9 violence.

In a video message, Zaidi said that he had already condemned the May 9 incidents and that whatever happened was wrong. He said that all those responsible should be brought to justice.

Zaidi also said that he would continue to work for Pakistan and bring investments from abroad. He ended his message with the declaration of "Pakistan Army Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad."

Zaidi's apprehension took place on May 9, as a result of law enforcement agencies taking action subsequent to a demonstration in the Baloch Colony region, which occurred in the aftermath of Imran Khan's arrest. He was arrested under Section 4 of the Maintenance of Public Order and put under house arrest. His residence in the port city was declared a sub-jail.

On May 17, Zaidi clarified in a press conference that he would not leave PTI no matter what. He said that he would leave PTI when Imran Khan would leave. He said that if anyone wanted him to leave PTI, they would have to shoot him in the head.

Hours after his statement, the Sindh home ministry ordered to shift PTI Sindh chapter president Ali Zaidi to Jacobabad Jail.

Zaidi's resignation comes at a time when PTI is facing a crisis. The party has been losing support in the wake of Imran Khan's ouster as prime minister. Zaidi's resignation is a major blow to PTI, as he was one of the party's most popular leaders in Sindh.

It remains to be seen how PTI will cope with Zaidi's resignation. The party is already facing a leadership crisis, and Zaidi's departure will only make things more difficult. It is possible that PTI will split, with some members following Zaidi and others remaining loyal to Imran Khan. Only time will tell what the future holds for PTI.
