Scotland to Launch UK’s First Self-Driving Bus Service

LONDON: Scotland is getting ready to introduce the United Kingdom's first autonomous bus system, named CAVForth, which will operate on a 14-mile path and is designed to move nearly 10,000 passengers every week, marking a significant milestone in the country's transportation sector.

The local bus service, which will be the first of its kind in the world to utilize autonomous technology, will have drivers on board for emergency situations. Equipped with advanced features like artificial intelligence, the buses can prevent collisions and operate at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.

By implementing this service, it is anticipated that safety, fuel efficiency, and the overall passenger experience will witness remarkable enhancements. These buses will collect data and gain insights from their routes, playing a crucial role in the progress of autonomous travel.

Autonomous transportation trials have been executed in several countries, including South Korea, Spain, and Singapore, indicating the expanding global adoption of this technology.
