From Stopover to Stayover: Dubai’s Path to Becoming a Must-Visit Stayover Destination

ABU DABHI: Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has successfully concluded the 30th Arabian Travel Market (ATM) at the Dubai World Trade Center. The event brought together over 122 public and private sector organizations from across the globe for four days.

The primary goal was to bolster Dubai's position as a leading international travel destination while exploring potential business opportunities and promising advancements for the country's tourism industry.

With the participation of a wide range of organizations, the ATM event is likely to create a positive impact on the tourism sector, further cementing Dubai's reputation as a hub for global tourism.

Dubai, an enchanting global destination, seamlessly weaves together tradition and innovation to offer travelers a tapestry of unparalleled experiences.

Evolving from a mere transit hub, Dubai has blossomed into a thriving city that invites visitors to delve into its dynamic culture, awe-inspiring architectural wonders, and opulent attractions.

With a bold economic agenda and aspirations to rank among the world's top three most visited destinations, Dubai embarks on a transformative journey to redefine its identity and captivate tourists from every corner of the world with its charm and allure.

During an interview with Pakistani journalists, Bader Habib, Head of the South Asian region at DET, shed light on Dubai's concerted efforts and initiatives to entice more Pakistani tourists.

Emphasizing Dubai's proximity and historical ties to Pakistan, he highlighted the city's endeavor to enhance visibility in the country. Through roadshows, events, and engaging with the trade industry, Dubai aims to showcase its finest offerings.

With a focus on media outreach, trade engagement, and strategic campaigns, Dubai aspires to position itself as a hospitable and inviting destination for Pakistani tourists.

"Our endeavors in Pakistan have been on an upward trajectory since 2017. Initially, we stationed around 10 agents, and today, we are proud to have 25 dedicated agents and experts like yourself." he said

"Pakistan consistently ranks among our top 10 source markets, securing the 9th position last year. While the market has shown reactivity in the past, we recognize the need to amplify our presence in Pakistan with a proactive approach." he said

futher more he said that "We understand that Pakistanis are sought after by other captivating destinations like Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, Baku, and Sri Lanka. Nonetheless, Dubai's geographical proximity and our shared historical ties and brotherhood make it a unique proposition".

Building on this potential, we aim to continually remind Pakistanis that Dubai warmly embraces them. Many non-resident Pakistanis view Dubai as a second home and frequently use it as a transit hub, particularly when traveling between Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Proximity is not an obstacle, as almost every Pakistani has a connection in Dubai.

We acknowledge that our task is only halfway complete, and we shoulder the responsibility of tailoring our efforts to resonate with the Pakistani audience. Leveraging multiple channels such as media, trade partnerships, the influence of celebrities, and targeted campaigns, we aim to reaffirm that Dubai wholeheartedly welcomes Pakistani visitors," he expressed.
