Fawad Chaudhry Spotted Running Back into IHC Amid Fear of Re-Arrest

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted protective bail to Fawad Chaudhry, a senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for a period of two days in all cases. Furthermore, the court has prohibited the authorities from arresting him within the jurisdiction of the federal capital until May 17.
Earlier today, shortly after being released on bail, the former information minister hurriedly returned to the court to avoid potential arrest, as the police were making a move to apprehend him while he was leaving the IHC premises.
Just as Fawad had settled into his car and had barely started to move, he noticed the Anti-Terrorist Squad personnel advancing towards him.
Promptly reacting to the sight of the approaching police, the PTI leader hastily exited his vehicle and sought refuge within the confines of the IHC to evade arrest. Presently, he is back in the courtroom accompanied by his legal team.
Interestingly, despite Fawad submitting an undertaking to the IHC, assuring that he would not violate section 144 and participate in any protests, the police still attempted to arrest him.
Consequently, IHC Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the petition filed by the PTI leader, seeking protective bail in all the cases lodged against him.
During the proceedings, the court requested the advocate general to provide details of the cases, to which the advocate general disclosed that two cases had been registered against Fawad.
Eventually, the IHC accepted Fawad's bail petition and instructed the relevant authorities to dispatch a copy of the verdict to the Islamabad police chief via a "special messenger."
