Mountaineer Naila Kiani to be Awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has granted approval for the prestigious civil award, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, to be bestowed upon the renowned mountaineer Naila Kiani, in acknowledgment of her remarkable feat of conquering the majestic peak of Mount Everest.

This remarkable achievement marks her as the second Pakistani woman to proudly raise the nation's flag at the highest point on Earth.

It is noteworthy that Samina Baig, another exceptional mountaineer from Pakistan, had previously achieved this historic milestone in 2013.

A notification has been issued by the Prime Minister's Office, formally announcing his endorsement of this award for Naila Kiani.

The PM Office has further instructed the cabinet secretary to diligently oversee all the necessary procedures and formalities associated with this recognition.

The Prime Minister's decision to confer the Sitara-i-Imtiaz upon Kiani stems from her outstanding representation of Pakistan and the honor she has brought to the country through her remarkable accomplishment.

It is worth mentioning that Kiani has demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination by scaling Mount Lhotse in Nepal, a remarkable feat she achieved a mere two days after successfully conquering the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.

Reaching a towering elevation of 8,516 meters, Mount Lhotse proudly claims its place as the fourth most elevated mountain globally, standing in the esteemed company of Mount Everest, K2, and Kangchenjunga.

Naila Kiani's triumphant ascent of this awe-inspiring peak has elevated her to the status of being the first Pakistani woman to conquer a total of six 8,000-meter mountains.

Naila Kiani's awe-inspiring accomplishment and her contribution to the field of mountaineering have garnered the admiration and respect of the nation, leading to the well-deserved conferment of the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
